2008-09-09 Akron/Family donates handmade sign to an auction to benefit War Child International. The piece was originally published earlier this summer in the Under The Radar Protest Issue which featured AK holding a sign bearing their thoughts on present day politics. AK's sign read, "I Want To Live In Woodrow Guthrie's America." Signs by Rage Against The Machine, REM, Modest Mouse, Spoon and more are also available. The 7-day eBay auction of the protest signs featured in the issue kicks off September 30. All proceeds will go to benefit War Child International, a nonprofit organization that helps children in areas of conflict across the globe. Auction begins September 30 at 12PM PST! The work is part of a full evening of minimalism spanning 800 years, from the 13th century early music of Pérotin, to Chatham's bliss-out guitar tones, to Manuel Göttsching's landmark 1981 electronic work, E2-E4.
