” But so many things have happened.” yes we know. Well,
We went to Europe in November before Thanksgiving. There we met the Man from Prague who would greet us and we’d know him by the blue van. He carried the important paperwork. However dangerous, we would go on to befriend Vaclav. On the eastern side of Europe we would eat delicious Venison that his wife made and read about Leadbelly while watching his son play drums on the floor.
We got to work right away performing in Germany/Czech/France/England/Belguim/NL, for this was our cover and not to be broken. We nearly slipped when running into Wilco by the sea in Germany. Billy Bragg was onto us we could tell but we talked of Woody Guthrie and intellectual rights and narrowly avoided letting our purpose slip. Too many dangers in letting it see the light of day before its time. Refractions of this purpose were workshopped dutifully in the van. True New Beginnings for a New Album in ‘10. We are excited. Carefully, it was leaked into the performance expression vectors, allowing a subtle introduction to the ever present context machine.
On the final night all was brought to fruition. Returning from where we started, a star shaped egyptian felafel joint in Den Hague, whilst Low Anthem played dylan songs in the lobby and Malkmus, jet lagged checked his email, we snuck upstairs to discover and document the floating 6. It was true and we had come and done that which we came to do.

Perfect. Now we can go home in peace.

the Woody Project
We have been asking friends to record versions of our song Woody Guthrie’s America. Inspiring, Surprising, and Beautiful versions are rolling in and we are trying to keep up with them by building a web home where they will stay dry and entertain you. But I could not wait. Here is the first one we got. It is from Charlyne Yi. Please enjoy. And, if you feel so inspired, send a version of your own to:
akronfamilywoodyproject@gmail.com
Once the site is up, we plan to open it up to everybody, and have a truly world-wide sing along. For now, plug in your boombox or ear plugs into your internet device and Enjoy!

through band friend Jesse Jarnow discovered this book. epic 1st volume of an American history in verse by former Fug Ed Sanders. great idea. book is readable fun, lucid learning experience. thought it sang praise to the same poetic america that our album cover was singing to and wanted to share introduction poem. enjoy.
can find book here if interested: http://www.blacksparrowbooks.com/author.asp?first=Edward&last=Sanders
some slaraffenland as promised
Helloall,
Been keeping up mainly by photos these days. as tours roll on, words roll away and images just pass by.But, as for catching up and content and all,
We just had a most wonderful US tour with the Danish band Slaraffenland and the NYC troupe Jeffrey Lewis and the Junkyard. See one of Jeffrey’s songs below. Maybe we can post a Slaffenland tune tomorrow? tumblr only lets us post one a day.
The tour was a true gradient caravan of joy that landed in many small and far off places. Hudson NY with Dan Bunny and Williamsport PA at Site B and then finishing in a contemporary art museum in Lousiville KY. A great and wonderful few weeks. Slaraffenland even joined us on stage each night to play horns, sing, drum. Here is an audience video I scraped up from an Ithaca show: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lHDCdBybzRo
That entire show can be downloaded off our new archive.org! page here: http://www.archive.org/details/akronfamily2009-09-16.aud.flac16
In the midst of this amazing tour we stopped off on the Borscht Belt to participate in the Flaming Lips curated ATP. It was a great weekend with one of the most mind/body/soul altering performances we have ever seen by the Boredoms. We also got to participate in Oneida’s 10.5 hour performance on Sunday. We had the coveted early slot at noon. See more here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=M8RXkPdCKlY&feature=related
Many good things are coming too. Europe in November and Australia/NZ in December. A new video project. Also taking submissions soon for the Woody Project we are doing. Stay tuned. Stay in touch.
All our love, Seth. Akron/Family
